Cosmetic Dental Practices: All You Need to Know

By Arthur Kezian
Every individual likes to look great all the time; and one of the obvious ways is to have the most perfect set of teeth. This is where the professional comes in. Cosmetic dentistry is a growing arena of beauty care that is more than just facial or skin deep. It is more than the normal dental treatment by any dentist. It is not a routine dental service by any dentist.
Scope of services
The scope of services a dentist can offer is quite wide. Some may just be simple white fillings while others can involve veneers and crowns.
Cosmetic dentistry is applicable on teeth that experiences deterioration due to bad oral hygiene. Hence, you will find cosmetic dental practices in abundance to cater to the growing demand of patients.
Many cosmetic dental clinics also offer root canal therapies and periodontics as well as prosthetics for enhancing your facial look and smile.
Technique and equipment

Besides being qualified and experienced, a professional cosmetic dentist would be well versed with the state-of-the-art dentistry equipment and cosmetic treatment techniques available for today. These specialists must always be updated on the latest and most advanced techniques and tools in cosmetic dentistry.
With the changing demands and needs of the community today, there is a growing demand for more cosmetic dental treatments, especially where the image of perfection is projected on the silver screen and home boxes.
But the advancing technology is helping with pricing; the better technology using cheaper resources encourage more consumers to consider cosmetic dentistry as this facet of dental care makes it more affordable to a wider consumer market.
Caution with some Cosmetic Dentistry Treatments

Although you may be able to afford cosmetic dentistry treatments, there may be some points to note with certain treatments. For example, dental bleaching can whiten your teeth but unscrupulous dental providers may succumb to lower quality bleaching agents that may be harmful and reactive to your skin and health.
If you take on crowns and veneers as part of your cosmetic endeavor, you might bite too hard which can cause your crown or veneer to chip, crack or break. Hence, you should listen to your dental provider’s advice on how to handle your cosmetic dentistry treatments.
Choice of Cosmetic Dentists
It is advisable to consider the right dental treatment carefully and with the best dental provider you can find. It is better to confirm the authentic and well established providers carefully through a detailed research and proven track record.
Nevertheless, every dental provider may not be suitable with every patient.

Choosing the Right Dentist

By Arthur Kezian
The state licensing board requires some minimum practice standards from any dentist to ensure quality oral care for all consumers. This means every dentist is qualified to continue their practice. But, it is important to find a dentist that is not only qualified but is also good at what he or she does.
Good Patient Relations
B2

A dentist needs to exercise good patient relations to enjoy further services from his customers. When you feel comfortable and at ease with a dentist, you would not mind paying the higher dental fees; you will feel confident of the dentist’s skills and knowledge if he has excellent ‘bedside manners’. Not every consumer likes visiting the dentist; even for the routine oral hygiene like washing and cleaning. Hence, if a dentist practices stellar patient relations, he would have a loyal patron in his book.

His professional manners towards his patient would win more to his practice.
Qualifications
Qualified dentists must have undergone the proper academic and practical training to be fully equipped with the skills and methods on dental care and treatment. They should also be innovative in keeping up with the latest dental technology and methods so that he can recommend the better dental services to his patients.
A qualified dentist will always keep his dental knowledge updated and relevant so that he can advise his patients on the latest and better dental treatment and oral hygiene.
B1

Availability

A good dentist must be available to serve his patients the best he can. He must be able to adjust his time to serve his patients the best he can; even if it meant being an emergency dentist at times.
Reasonable fees
A good  dentist that is favorable to consumers would be one that charges reasonable fees. Although most clients would be of some high social status and dental charges should not be a concern, it is still assuring to note that a good dentist would charge only what is relevant or as per market prices. Overcharging a customer or asking for exorbitant prices would only reflect badly on the dentist as mercenary and not professional.
Dental Treatment
Another criterion in choosing the best dentist is the forms of dental treatment he practices. An excellent dentist would be open to various types of dental treatment instead of insisting only one or two types. Such a narrow minded approach only limits the potential of the dentist. So, before you choose a dentist, make sure he or she follows some of the criteria mentioned here.

Teeth Whitening – Flash That Smile Confidently

By Arthur Kezian
Teeth whitening is a safe and inexpensive way to get your teeth back in sparkling white condition. It is an effective cosmetic treatment for those who have stained and yellow teeth and cannot get the color of their teeth restored by conventional cleaning methods.
Teeth have an enamel surface that is made up of crystalline rods. The enamel protects the teeth from the harm caused to it by acts such as smoking, drinking excessive coffee and eating sweets which cause acid formation. The enamel begins to wear off as we grow older. It cracks up and begins to collect stains faster than before. Whitening treatments  are effective at removing some of the stains but the gaps in the enamel remain because of which the staining process begins all over again. Whitening makes it possible to restore the original whiteness of teeth and keeps it that way for longer periods.

Genetically, our teeth are pre-disposed to a certain color range. This color deepens with time despite the best precautions. Some types of food and beverages such as coffee, tea, dark soda and red wine can cause discoloration faster. Smokers also face the same problem as the nicotine in cigarettes can also be very harsh on the teeth.
An effective whitening treatment can bring about significant changes quickly. The dentist uses a high concentration of hydrogen peroxide gel that is applied directly to the teeth. Teeth stains can be removed to a significant extent in one or two visits. For stains that are more stubborn, more visits may be required.

Some dentists will give patients a whitening kit that contains of bleaching trays that can be used at home. They have a lower concentration of hydrogen peroxide gel that remains in contact with the teeth for at least one hour and at times even overnight. The best dentists provide a teeth whitening procedure that is fast and convenient, long lasting, does not affect the sensitivity of your teeth significantly and is done professionally without causing any side effects.

Teeth whitening is a well-established process in cosmetic dentistry. The active ingredient, hydrogen peroxide has been established to be safe and does not adversely affect the gums. The process works well for most of the patients except in some type of stains which are caused by antibiotics. The results vary from individual to individual and will depend on the structure of the teeth.

Teeth whitening also has teeth whitening processes that can get your teeth whiter in just about one hour. The improvement in the condition of the teeth can be as much as eight shades whiter. State of the art apparatus combined with a proprietary whitening gel and blue light source can create a revolutionary whitening process. The blue light activates the whitening gel and makes it work faster and better than any other teeth whitening methods.
It is important to use the services of the top teeth whitening dentists to get the best possible results.

Want the Best Techniques for Teeth Cleaning? – 4 Tips from an Expert Dentist

By Arthur Kezian

Teeth cleaning
is a big deal.  After all, there is no better way to show off that golden suntan than with some pearly white teeth to go with it! Most people think that brushing their teeth is a no-brainer, and that it’s just something you do for a few minutes every day.  In reality, though, it’s very important.  If you don’t clean your teeth the right way, you will never have that beautiful smile that you’ve always dreamed of.
If you want to take advantage of the best techniques for teeth cleaning, start by following these 4 tips.  Created by an expert Los Angeles dentist, they will boost your smile in no time!

1.       Start by picking the right toothpaste
Toothpaste isn’t all created equally.  If you want to maximize your brushing, it starts with the proper toothpaste.  Without good toothpaste, all of the brushing in the world won’t get rid of tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath.  No matter which brand you select, you need to make sure that your toothpaste contains fluoride.  That’s the stuff that combats tooth decay and enamel wear and tear.
Some of the better toothpastes also contain polishing ingredients that get rid of unsightly plaque and stains.
As for whether you should get a gel or paste toothpaste, that’s something that you can leave up to personal preference.  If you have any questions, though, your dentist can take a look at the active ingredients and make sure you’re getting everything you need.
If you have small children, the selecting process can be a little different.  There is toothpaste that’s specially designed for kids 6 and under.  When in doubt, though, ask your dentist.

 2.       When you start brushing, it’s all about the angles
To get the most out of your cleaning, brush your teeth at a 45-degree angle, while directing the motion towards your gum line.  That angle will help you reach both the front and back sides of your teeth.

3.      For the best teeth cleaning, time really is money
No matter how rushed you are, you need to brush your teeth for about three minutes.  If you don’t brush for that long, you will not get your teeth as clean as they need to be – meaning you’ll wind up in your dentist's office with problems.

4.       Pick a toothbrush that you’re comfortable with
The best toothbrushes have a long rubber handle that gives you maximum grip – even as you make your way into the far-reaching corners of your mouth.  And, if you’re looking for a way to get your teeth as clean as possible, get a toothbrush with a smaller head.  That way, you will be able to reach every tooth, front and back.
