Teeth Whitening: Your Path to a Sparkling Smile

By Arthur Kezian

As time passes, your teeth tend to turn yellow due to the mineral structure of them. Along with yellowing, teeth also get stained because the enamel is porous in nature. Your teeth stain most if you are a heavy smoker, drink a lot of coffee, tea soda, and red wine, or even acidic dressings like soy sauce or vinegar. Although all these stain the teeth, there is no need to worry. Nowadays, teeth can be polished clean and can be whitened as well. Getting a treatment for teeth whitening is very simple especially at Dr. Arthur A. Kezian DDS. This dentist is a well known professional and is experienced in the field of dental care.

Advantages of Teeth Whitening:

  • Dr. Kezian prefers bleaching trays over laser treatments as a whitening option.
  • Bleach trays are beneficial as they save you time, money, and also keep you at the comfort of your own home.
  • Whitening at home can be very simple even for those with a hectic lifestyle.
  • With bleach trays you can start whenever you would like and stop whenever you would like. This means you get to pick the shade you desire. If you are content with the shade, you can stop your whitening and touch-up every now and then.
  • You can see results in your teeth after the first whitening, but if you are just starting, it is recommended to whiten your teeth for 5 consecutive days. In just 5 days your teeth can be a whole shade lighter and whiter!

Disadvantages of Teeth Whitening:

  • Along with many products on the market, whitening gels do have some disadvantages.
  • Teeth and gums could become sensitive while you are whitening. This means drinking cold water, eating acidic things or foods containing citrus might cause you sensitivity.
  • Although sensitivity is not something to look forward to, there are always ways to prevent that.

What to do when You Feel Sensitivity:

  • When teeth whitening gels cause sensitivity, you can use Sensodyne toothpaste; this is the #1 recommended toothpaste for sensitivity. Sensodyne works to relieve pain that is caused by sensitive teeth.
  • Staying away from citrus and acidic foods while whitening is also very helpful.
  • One way to prevent sensitivity is by giving your teeth and gums a break. If you feel sensitivity, you can bleach every other day or every two days instead of every day.
  • Sensitivity can also be prevented based on the amount of gel you use. Many people think the more gel they use, the quicker their teeth will whiten. But, putting too much gel in your trays can cause sensitivity as well as minor burns in your gums. Always start with a small amount of gel as a precautious step and only add more to it when you realize your teeth don't feel sensitive.

Teeth whitening can be simple and beneficial as long as you follow the guidelines given to you by your dentist. Dr. Kezian can help you with any of your whitening concerns. He and his staff are ready to give you proper instructions on whitening. If you are ready to make a change and feel like whitening your teeth can be the change you need, then contact Dr. Kezian. You will be glad you did!

Cosmetic Dentistry and Porcelain Crowns

By Arthur Kezian
About 75% of adults in the US undergo dental fear. This is too high of a number. A lot of people do not see a dentist until they have a dental emergency. Sensibly, if you fear the dentist, you should not wait until you know you have a big problem that is going to involve a lot of dental work. Instead, you should keep up with your dental visits and be precautious. Make visiting your dentist a routine, not a hassle. If you check up on your teeth often, then you won’t need big work done, i.e. porcelain crowns. But, what happens if you do need to get a crown done? Don’t fear the practice; instead, try to be aware of the entire process to feel more relaxed.

Reasons for a Crown

·         Some people might need a crown to protect a very weak tooth with a lot of decay.

·         Very large fillings where there is not enough tooth left will also need crowns for support.

·         Crowns can be used to make alterations to improve your smile.

·         Crowns may also be used to cover a dental implant as that is the last stage of an implant procedure.

·         There are many kinds of crowns including all porcelain, zirconia crowns, all-resin crowns, all metal crowns, or crowns with porcelain fused to metal. You and your dentist will settle on the best possible option for your case and your budget.

First Appointment: Preparation of the Crown

Before starting a crown procedure, your dentist needs to prepare your tooth for a crown. The first step in the crown preparation would be to get the area being worked on numb. Your dentist will give you local anesthesia to numb the tooth and the gum around that tooth. The next step would be to file down your tooth from the biting surface as well as the sides of it to make room for the crown to slip on. After your tooth has been restructured, your dentist will take an impression of your teeth to make sure the crown fits consequently to your bite. Before sending the impressions to a dental lab where the crown will be made, your dentist will take the shade of your teeth to make sure the lab matches it as close as possible. The closer the color match, the more natural the crown will look in your mouth. The color shade step is a short one, but a very crucial you’re your dentist should show you the shade he/she chooses to make sure you are content with the color match.

The procedure is almost done. The last step is to place a temporary crown on before the permanent crown is done and ready to be cemented. With the temporary crowns you should avoid gum, caramel, or toffee to make sure they don’t pull out the crown. Also try to stay away from very hard foods so that they don’t break your temporary crown. This will save you an additional visit to the dentist. Whether you are getting zirconia or metal crowns, you should be careful with flossing with your temporary crown. Put the floss through your teeth and instead of pulling it outward, slide it through to take it out.

Second Appointment: Cementation

Your second appointment is the final appointment of the crown procedure. This appointment is a lot quicker than your first one because it does not involve drilling down your tooth. Your temporary crown is taken off and your new crown is put on. If everything looks good to your dentist, the margins fit correctly, the color match is on point, and the crown fits properly, then it is ready for cementation. Permanent cement is used this time for a better, sturdier application. The cement is then cleaned out properly and the process is finished.

Before leaving the office though, your dentist and the staff will give you proper post-operative instructions regarding your crown and how to take care of it. Porcelain crowns need to be cared for just like your natural teeth need to be cared for. Make sure you keep your crowns clean to prevent them from causing puffiness and inflammation in your gums.

If you have any questions regarding porcelain crowns, please feel free to contact Dr. Arthur A. Kezian. He and his staff will be ready to assist you and make sure you are at ease. As long as you know and understand the procedure, there is no need to fear the dental work.

Know What to do during a Dental Emergency

By Arthur Kezian

Don’t wait until you have a dental emergency to contact a dentist. Just as if you would do your research about which school to send your children to, you should do the same for your dentist. Don’t you want a dentist you can trust, someone who is reliable? Don’t just walk into a place and hope they can help you, instead, know where you are going and be confident that they can help you. Along with having a good emergency dentist, it is also important to know some tips about how to handle a dental emergency. Here are some useful guidelines:

  • If you have something trapped between your teeth, try to remove it using dental floss. If you can’t remove it, don’t aggravate the area. Call your dentist and swing down to the office for a quick appointment.
  • If you accidently bit your lip, cheek, or tongue, rinse the area with warm water to clean it out and apply pressure using a gauze to stop bleeding if any. If the bleeding does not stop and the cut is big, then call your dentist as soon as possible.
  • If you have a broken tooth, clean the area out by rinsing with warm water. Call your dentist right away to make an appointment. Keep an ice pack or use cold compress to prevent the area from swelling.
  • In case of a bigger problem, like a knocked out tooth, call your dentist and request an emergency appointment. Until the appointment though, hold your tooth from its crown and rinse it off very carefully making sure that you do not remove any of the attached tissue. Try to place the tooth back into your mouth. If you can’t, then place the tooth in a cup of milk. The milk acts as a medium to help keep the cells of your tooth alive. Milk contains certain proteins, antibacterial substances, and sugars that help keep cells growing. Take the cup with you to your appointment to see if the tooth can be saved.

The aforementioned items are just a few things you should know about dental emergencies. One other thing you should know is being informed about the situations is not enough. You need to visit a dentist who is capable of handling and fixing a dental emergency. This is where Dr. Arthur A. Kezian DDS comes in. Dr. Arthur A. Kezian DDS - Get that Perfect Smile

By Arthur Kezian
A beautiful smile is always attractive, whether this means having straight teeth, having white teeth, having nicely proportioned teeth, or having all of the above. If you want a nice smile and are ready to make a change, then visit Dr. Arthur A. Kezian DDS. He is a known personality in the cosmetic dentistry field and can help you get closer to the smile you’ve always wanted. He specializes in cosmetic procedures which include but are not limited to teeth whitening, restorations like white composite fillings and full porcelain crowns or veneers, laser gum removal, bridges, partials and dentures, as well as dental implants.

One Step Closer to a Nicer Smile – Whitening:

·         If you want an esthetically pleasing smile, then Dr. Kezian is who you should visit.

·         Dr. Arthur A. Kezian specializes in whitening treatments. Bleaching trays are used for whitening procedures at Dr. Kezian’s office. Both he and the staff agree that this is the most effective form of whitening.

·         Impressions would be the first step of a whitening procedure at Dr. Kezian’s office. The impressions are used to make molds of your teeth. These molds are later used to make your bleach trays.

·         Once your bleach trays are done, you can pick them up from the office and take them home to start your bleaching. That is the best part – doing the bleaching at home!

·         After the first five days of bleaching your smile will be a whole shade lighter.

One Step Closer to a Nicer Smile – Contouring and Reshaping:

·         If you have misaligned teeth that you want to focus on, and braces aren’t your cup of tea, then cosmetic dental treatments can really assist you.

·         Getting veneers can really change your smile and make it look more aligned and esthetically pleasing.

·         You can easily consult with or make an appointment by your dentist to ask about veneers. Don’t wait any longer because your teeth will not fix themselves; you need to make the change.

One Step Closer to a Nicer Smile – Restoration:

·         With the help of a dentist, you can easily make your smile better. Based on you and your teeth, your dentist will give you proper recommendations on treatments.

·         If you have chipped or broken teeth, a filling or a crown can fix that. A crown procedure requires two appointments. The first appointment is the preparation process of your crown and the second appointment is the cementation of your crown.

·         The final result of these restorations is very lovely and satisfying. If you’re ready for a transformation, call Dr. Arthur A. Kezian DDS; you will not be let down.

Contact Dr. Kezian, to make an appointment for a consultation. He and his staff will make you feel comfortable with your decision and will bring you one step closer to a nicer smile.

Change Your Smile with a Dental Professional

By Arthur Kezian
Do you yearn for a nice smile? When you’re out in public, do you feel like you have to hide your smile? Why should anyone feel that way? All it takes to change that is a visit to a dentist, and not just any dentist. You need to see a dentist who has years of experience in cosmetic procedures and someone you can trust. In order to get the best treatments for your smile, visit Dr. Arthur Kezian DDS. He and his staff will treat you with the utmost respect and make you feel comfortable with whatever you decide you want to do. If fear is what has been holding you back, you don’t need to be afraid. The office will make sure you are at ease and will give you comforting tips before and after procedures as well as a thorough explanation using pictures and videos of what you should expect from your selected treatment. If cost is what has been holding you back, you still don’t need to be afraid. Dr. Kezian’s team works hard to make sure you are also comfortable cost wise. With alternative financial options, this office should be the first and last you visit.

Lightening your teeth:

·         One way your dentist can change your smile is by whitening your teeth.

·        The whitening technique used at Dr. Kezian’s office is the bleach tray. You have an impression taken of your teeth which is then molded to have the tray fit your teeth perfectly. Once the trays are ready you are given proper instructions and do’s and don’ts about whitening so you could do it yourself. Yep, you read this right; you do your own whitening. This means you can start whenever you want, stop whenever you want, and do all of it at the comfort of your home.

·        Once you reach your desired shade you can stop your bleaching and use the gel every once in a while for touch ups, say a day before a big party or the night before an important meeting.

Restoring you teeth:

·         Another option your dentist can use is one that is more restorative than just cosmetic. This option would include implants, crowns, veneers, and fillings.

·         Implants are a great solution for missing teeth. Getting an implant to replace your missing tooth can make you look years younger. Why not opt for something that will make you look and feel better?

·         Crowns and veneers are great for patients who have broken, fractured, chipped, discolored, misaligned, or severely stained teeth. These will enhance your looks and make your smile esthetically pleasing.

·         Fillings are smaller procedures compared to the aforementioned treatments, but they can still make a huge difference in your smile. If you have silver fillings that are breaking down, then a new white composite filling will look much better.

Polish your personality:

·         Among all  offices, Dr. Kezian’s is top ranked. Visit his office and you can see for yourself.

·         Dr. Kezian and his staff will be with you every step of the way whether you are making a big decision like getting an implant or making an easier decision like whitening your teeth. Whatever it is you prioritize, Dr. Kezian and his staff will accommodate you.
