Dr. Arthur A. Kezian – Cosmetic Dentistry

By Arthur Kezian

New advancements and developments in technology help give comfort and relief to patients in need of dental work. With the help of cosmetic dentistry, a patient can achieve an amazing smile with very little work done. For discolored, crooked, chipped, or non-proportional teeth, porcelain veneers are a great way to repair them. Dr. Arthur A. Kezian has been in the dental field for over thirty five years and has completed many successful veneer cases. If you’re trying to find a dentist who can give you a beautiful, natural looking smile with veneers, then Dr. Kezian is who you should consult with.

If your case needs more work, porcelain crowns could be the right procedure for you. If you have had a root canal, or are going to have one done, a crown is always recommended to be placed over the tooth. If this is your case, Dr. Kezian can provide you with a beautiful looking crown that will match the adjacent teeth in structure and color.

Porcelain Veneers:

Dental veneers are very thin, custom made shells of teeth that are placed on top of your existing teeth to cover any problems you may have with them. Dental veneers can be made of a few different materials, but the most popular is porcelain. Porcelain veneers look more appealing and resisting staining. These veneers can fix problems like discoloration, wearing down of the teeth, chips, misaligned teeth, and even teeth with gaps between them.

Getting veneers done usually takes about three appointments, the first being the consultation with the doctor and the next two being the prepping of the teeth and the placement of the veneers. Because the procedure itself only requires two appointments, porcelain veneers are a great and easy way to enhance your smile.

Porcelain Crowns:

Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps that cover your teeth. This is the main difference between a crown and a veneer – a veneer only covers surfaces areas whereas a crown covers your entire tooth. Just like veneers, crowns can be made of different materials, porcelain crowns being the most popular. Dental crowns are used more for protective reasons rather than esthetic. Crowns could be placed to protect a weak tooth from breaking. A tooth could become weak and fragile due to the amount of decay. Crowns could also restore an already broken tooth by giving it good structural support. Another reason a crown could be used is to cover a tooth that has a very large filling which can’t be filled again due to lack of tooth structure. Crowns are also used for bridges and to cover implants. Just like veneers, crowns require more than one visit with the dentist. The first visit will include the prepping of the tooth, as it requires more drilling than a veneer, and the second appointment will be the cementation of the crown.

Dr. Arthur A. Kezian has been making crowns and veneers for many years and has the latest technology at his office to help make the procedures painless and keep his patients satisfied. Each crown or veneer case is carefully planned out and high-tech equipments are used to make sure the crown or veneer matches the teeth they will be placed next to. Each case is different from another and therefore requires a consultation visit. If you have any questions regarding crowns or veneers, feel free to call Dr. Kezian’s office to schedule a consultation.

Headed to a Dentist? 3 Ways He Can Give Your Smile a Boost

By Arthur Kezian

If you're looking for new ways to have a healthy-looking, beautiful smile, you're not alone.  In fact, people have been searching for ways to give their smiles a boost for thousands of years -- back when someone created a set of dentures out of ivory.  Ever since, good cosmetic dentists have been in high-demand!
Luckily, there have been some major advancements in cosmetic dentistry over the years. In fact, these 3 recent ones will have you running to a skilled cosmetic dentist:

1.      Dental porcelain crowns
If you have uneven or damaged teeth, you probably don't have a whole lot to smile about.  Luckily, dental porcelain crowns can change all of that!
What are they?

Crowns are like little covers for your teeth.  When your dentist puts one in your mouth, it slides right over your tooth.  That way, your teeth will all look the same size and have the same shape.  If you have a chipped or cracked tooth, a crown will give it the support it needs, so that you don't wind up with additional damage.
Crowns have been around for years, but they used to be made out metal.  Talk about a bad look!  Today, they're made out of porcelain, so they can make your teeth look brighter and whiter.
Because they're so pearly-white, porcelain crowns are used to cover up titanium dental implants.  That way, you'll look like you have a full set of healthy, natural teeth!

2.      Dental veneers
Wondering how that A-list celebrity has such a perfect white smile?  She probably takes advantage of the veneers! Even if you don't have a movie role coming up, you can work with a great cosmetic dentist to get the same look.
The best veneers are thin pieces of either porcelain or resin.  Your cosmetic dentist will use special cement to stick them onto the front of your teeth.  As a result, veneers can cover up any gaps in your teeth, make crooked teeth look straight, and make your teeth all look the same length.  Plus, they'll give you a brighter smile!
Since dental veneers don't adhere to your entire tooth, they won't give you the support that crowns can.  But if you're simply looking for a cosmetic upgrade, dental veneers can't be beat!

3.      Custom porcelain shading
If your dentist is going to put a ton of porcelain into your mouth, it only makes sense that he would need to come up with the perfect color.  After all, if you're only getting work done on a couple of teeth, they'll need to match your existing teeth.  Even if you're getting all of your teeth done, you'll need a shade of porcelain that's just right for your skin tone.
Luckily, it's easy for a good expert cosmetic dentist to mix a shade that's perfect!

Understanding Cosmetic Dental Veneers

One dental cosmetic offering that can be enjoyed is dental veneers. These are usually porcelain laminate veneers to offer the best of aesthetics for that delusive beautiful smile.

Procedure:
Performing a dental veneer procedure is not every dentist’s forte; it is dependent on the skills and experience of a well qualified dentist. The procedure may be simple but great accuracy is desired for the best outcome.
Cosmetic dental veneers require a bit of tooth reduction, barely 0.5 mm. The procedure does not necessarily apply local anesthesia unless the patient is highly sensitive to pain or anxiety. There will be a couple of visits to the dentist for the completion of dental veneers.

Facts:

There are some facts about porcelain veneers. For one, they are an irreversible dental treatment.
It takes about a week for porcelain veneers to be prepared as it is made of strong porcelain laminate. There is no temporary fabrication of tooth restoration as the affected tooth is reduced very little.
It is common to experience sensitivity to cold and hot throughout the procedure as the tooth enamel has been shaved off slightly in preparation of the veneer attachment.
Dental veneers are made of porcelain laminate which are inserted on the affected tooth using a resin that is sensitive to light; hence, it is hardened quickly using white light.

End results:
Once the veneers are set in place, they will be very strong to resist most forces encountered through a normal diet. The crushing strength of porcelain veneers is great but their weakness is its low tensile strength. Hence, it is advisable to avoid actions such as opening nuts, chewing bones or biting into apples. Veneers provide great results for better shaping, coloring and appearance of the teeth for all.
It is important to consider dental veneers if the teeth condition is bad and unsightly. A lot of self confidence can be restored with dental veneers. A person that has undergone such a procedure will achieve much more in life. As top quality porcelain is used in veneers, these will last a lifetime with proper and regular cleaning and visits to the dentist.
