Gum disease affects the lives of more than 60% of all Americans; however, most Americans do not realize that they have it. It begins as something that is called gingivitis and can continue until your teeth begin to suffer and fall out. The lasting effects of diseases of the gum that are not treated can cause severe pain and tooth loss. On the first sign of possible disease, please consult Dr. Kezian and staff so that you can be out of pain and protect your mouth for years to come.
· Gingivitis usually begins as bleeding in the gums, specifically after brushing your teeth. If any symptoms similar to this exist, you should be checked out immediately. Your gums will be purple and dark red. Your gums may also be painful and swollen.
· Losing your teeth is not only unattractive but can lead to other health problems, as the connection between continued health of the heart and memory is related to healthy teeth. The only sure way to combat gum disease is to make continual annual appointments with Dr. Kezian or your local Dentist. When you visit the Dentist, he will help you learn healthy ways to combat health damage, show you how to make your teeth stronger, and teach you what care is needed for each of your teeth.
· Periodontal care is an absolute must to keep your gums healthy. It can lead to sensitivity, cavities, and tooth loss. If not properly cared for, you can and probably will lose your teeth. Proper care of your gums can reduce swelling; pain, and spread of diseases. Your gums are important and should be taken care of at all times. Gum disease runs rampant in America and without proper care of the gums; a person may grow sick and be in severe pain. To avoid your gums getting diseases; you should make annual check up appointments.
· Do not wait until you are older to care about your periodontal care as this can cause continual failure of your teeth. It needs to be combated at all ages so that your teeth and physical health are strong as you age. You need to combat any diseases on your teeth before it is too late. By starting young, you are creating a commitment to healthy, strong teeth and gums for the rest of your life. Learning to care for your gums will counteract any destructive forces that may try to erode or ruin your gums and teeth in the future. Your best chance of having healthy gums is to learn the techniques of proper care now instead of later.
· Dentist appointments at least twice of year; more if needed! Talk to your Dentist about more ways to combat diseases of the gums and how to take proper care of them.
