Whether you are a dental professional, a dental copywriter or simply a dentist, by now you must have already heard of the hot debate about the research that periodontal disease is not linked to heart disease. It was published by the American heart association. Dr. Kezian and staff together with other medical professionals from across the country are debating the fact that this new research has significant affect on many widely accepted theories especially those of oral systematic health (including the correlation between heart health and gum health).
· The American Heart association finally published its conclusions from the study that included top names in the medical industry. Following this publication NPR also decided to follow along as they published the same findings on the internet. The conclusions that were drawn suggest that the link between heart disease and gum disease has to do more with your health choices and lifestyle and not as a result of the effects of gum inflammation and infection as previously thought to be.
· Following the close scrutiny and review of evidence, the panel of experts working on the research deduced that it is still the same lifestyle choices such as obesity and smoking that are to blame for the incidence leading to gum disease. This is especially for patients already suffering from heart problem and related ailments or health complications. In fact, the idea of inflammation present in gum disease inflaming the arteries and other structures of the heart was rebuked by the panel of researchers. The America Heart Association also came to a conclusion that there was not enough evidence to support the claim that oral bacteria was attached to plaques of fatty deposits in the cardio vascular system.
